Oral Pathology Excellence
The department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology plays a pivotal role in dental education by providing a comprehensive understanding of the normal and pathological processes occurring in the Oral and Maxillofacial region. Headed by Dr. E Anuradha Sunil and a team of professionals along with well equipped infrastructure, we are committed to quality education and research for undergraduate and post-graduate students. Additionally, we render patient care through accurate diagnosis of diseases and abnormalities of the oral and maxillofacial region. We provide comprehensive consultation and diagnostics services to clinical departments through standard tissue processing, special staining and immunohistochemistry.
Our Profile
Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Microbiology is endowed with outstanding teaching and learning facilities for both BDS and MDS courses. The Department comprises of 5 teaching faculties and 2 non teaching staffs. We have a spacious UG Lab enabling seating of 60 students for practical classes and a PG Room that can accommodate 9 MDS students. Our Histopathology Lab is well equipped with facilities for processing, staining, and analyzing biopsy and cytology specimens. In addition, we have Immunohistochemistry Lab for advanced diagnosis, characterization of oral diseases and for study purposes. Department has Research Room with specialized microscopes and digital facilities for case reporting and research. Department Library houses collections of books, journals and dissertations providing tailored resources and expertise to meet the unique needs of faculty and students. Our department museum exhibits diverse variety of models, specimens, casts and photographs essential for learning and understanding of oral structures and various diseases.

Mission
1) The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Microbiology is committed to providing comprehensive and reliable diagnostic services, supplemented by sound clinical input from referrals.
2) Teaching undergraduate students Dental anatomy, Oral histology, Embryology, Physiology, Oral Pathology and Microbiology in order to evolve them as qualified dental practitioners.
3) Training postgraduate students to develop ability for rational approach to histopathological diagnosis, cytology & hematology investigations and for correlation of these with clinical findings and for research.
4) Fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, by sharing experience and providing service to the institution, state & national dental and oral pathology organizations.
5) We also focus on all our student’s individuality and treat all of them equally and fairly. We strive for perfection in all what we do.
6) We are flexible and adaptable to accommodate newly emerging paradigms in diagnosis and treatment plans. We are also committed to developing novel educational methods for all students, and to advance knowledge through multidisciplinary research. We integrate continuing medical education programs into the departmental activities.
